An Interview with Mohammad Asyraf

On 27th of july 2010 I had a conversation and interview with Mohammad Asyraf which is my best friend and course mate. Mohammad Asyraf bin Ibrahim was born on August 26, 1991 in Hospital Besar Kota Bharu, Kelantan. He lives at Kampung Baru Nelayan, Tumpat Kelantan. Since that the village near the sea many people there work as a fisherman. Asyraf or his nickname “Kurt”, is the 5th of 6 siblings. His father works as a custom officer and had retired with experiences for about 30 years on custom department. While his mother worked as a clerk at a police station in Tumpat few years ago but already retired now. His mother had an experience on her worked for about 25 years. His parents are hardworking and friendly couple. Kurt received his secondary education at Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Sains Machang and he is currently pursuing his study in Bachelor of Chemical Engineering at University Technology of PETRONAS or known as UTP.
Kurt was an active person in his former school in many kinds of activities He was an athlete of 100 meters and 4X100 meters relay. He also had been chosen as rugby`s school player under 18` and succeeded until state level. Besides that, he also participated in chess competition until state level. His great achievements were supported by his parent and friends. They always give moral support for him to be more successful in the field that he jumped into. Other than that, Kurt had been appointed as one of the Multimedia committee members which he had to be a photographer. He is good at taking photos and a lot of people admire his works. He also served as vice president of the Chess Club and he was a Biology Club secretary. For him, a balance between academic and co-curriculum are needed and should give a priority of every student . Many skills he had learnt in the school hood times, soft and hard skill.
During leisure times, he likes to read novels and he strongly believes that by reading novels he can improve his grammar and vocabulary. Surfing the internet also one of his hobby. By doing so, he can gain lots of new information and general knowledge. He agreed that the internet is very helpful to human beings but at the same time he also stress on awareness of the internet usage because sometimes it may leads to other bad things like pornographies and violent. Kurt also likes to collect shoes, watches and shirts. To him, the attire is representing the attitude of a person. Other than that, he also likes to play futsal. Every Saturday night, he will play futsal together with his friends. Besides futsal, He also likes to play football every evening. In football, he will play the right wing back position and his football idol is Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid. He stresses that physical fitness and mind must be balance so that we can live in a healthy lifestyle. Although he is very stressful on the healthy lifestyle, Kurt is a big fan of roti canai, tosei, with gearbox curry and teh tarik.
“ I am a man who strongly believes in what he does”. This quote by himself has affected him most of his philosophy in life. He got this quotation when he was in form 5. At that time, He had been selected to be the representative of his rugby team which participated in Rugby ‘10 SPB. At last, his rugby team had won the first runner-up and had been chosen to represent the state. That was the sweetest memories in his life. The other experience that he will never forget is the dilemma of choosing between pursuing study to Beijing, China to study Mandarin Language or just staying in UTP studying Chemical Engineering. After getting some advice from his parent and friends he made a confident decision that he wanted to stay at UTP and refused to further his study in China. He was very confident that he had made a correct decision.
My interview with Mohammad Asyraf really helps me to stay open to the life possibilities. It helped me to realize that I should follow my passions and never give up in anything I have done. And also I learnt the lesson that how much the decisions I make now will affect my future. I admire his independence, principles, and his perseverance.
